About The Art
I started painting these patterns in Shanghai, but the inspiration is more a composition of places and experiences, my travels around the world, and my upbringing in in Jerusalem.
These patterns are a combination of colours and motifs that are all mixed together from my various homes and places I have loved.

About The Art
Using canvas, plywood, and cloth, my work 'Transplant' unites and represents diverse origins. Dual hemisphere trees coexist on a single plane, reflecting adaptability and transformation. This metaphor highlights merged origins and adopted homelands, individuals in an unfamiliar land, embodying beauty and challenges as change converges in new environments.

About The Art
Reflect on the sense of uncertainty that lies ahead, remember that healing, strength, and reclaiming what's been lost are powerful guiding forces. Embracing these feelings will help fill the void of uncertainty with positivity and purpose.

About The Art
This work was made as part of my fellowship project with the New York Foundation for the Arts and NYC art department. On Oct 14, 2021, I took 10F canvas and laid it down for 3 hours on the sidewalk in Madison square park NYC. With the goal that the pedestrian will walk on the canvas leave their footprints on the canvas as a reminder of the life and movement that accruing in the city. After my public performance activity, I painted native flowers that had naturally grown on the same block where I made the performance before it became an urban area.

About The Art
The central image is my dress made of a page taken from a British Mandate passport. It reminds me of my grandfather, a poor orthodox Polish Jew who in 1932 decided ‘This year, not next, in Jerusalem.’ There my father grew up motherless. My longings to my parents, my childhood, my Jerusalem, are endless.

About The Art
Color is an integral aspect of our existence that influences how we communicate, interact with one another, and experience life. Simultaneously, the urban landscape is using color in a communicative and functional way, with ever-evolving fascinating forms and shapes. In my work, I strive to blend these forces, infusing vibrant hues and urban styles in an attempt to transform spaces.

@Shani.Nizan
About The Art
As an expatriate from Israel, Nizan found herself observing a new city and herself within it. The “jungle” that is New York City was an extreme change from the small village community where Shani grew up in. In her choice to use simple Bic pens and high-quality paper, as well as thin and aggressive pen strokes, she symbolizes an initial reflection of city life extremes: wealth and poverty, beauty and ugliness, order and chaos going together side by side and creating the art piece that is New York. The un-proportional creatures placed in everyday New York City scenes are suggestive of the inevitable need to adapt to a new social environment. This way, the viewer can feel that they are either observing the city from a high point of view or trying to find their place in it. As she mentioned in her statement, Shani always keeps a childish innocent atmosphere as the frame of the content in her artwork. Originally, this exhibition was called “Wishful Thinking” to create a visual fantasy that is typical to a child, where the artist is wishing her creatures to get big in their new home, New York.

About The Art
Dehydrated, marine creatures hang like withered laundry, their stillness echoing the vitality they once possessed. Through manipulation of light and shadow, the artist resurrects a semblance of their past life, prompting viewers to contemplate the transient nature of existence in the underwater realm.

About The Art
This painting has undergone multiple iterations and progressed through various stages. By permitting myself to play and explore, I am adding to the artwork the depth and texture I’m looking for in a painting. Typically, I begin painting without concrete plans; instead, I listen to my heart and intuition and stop only when I am satisfied.
